Cauliflower Steak

By basting this cauliflower in butter, look how this boring slice of cauliflower has been transformed into an amazing steak. Then I have created a lovely side dish that also doubles as a sauce to really set this dish off.

Ingredients

  • 1 big slice of cauliflower

  • 1 tablespoon of butter

  • 1 clove of garlic, sliced

  • ½ of a tin of haricot beans, drained

  • 100ml single cream

  • Olive oil

  • Salt & pepper

Recipe

Season generously and start to pan fry the cauliflower slice over a medium heat in a splash of olive oil and a tablespoon of butter. Turn every 3 or 4 minutes while continuously basting in the melted butter using a tablespoon. After about 15 to 20 minutes, When the cauliflower is a lovely golden brown colour, set to one side.

Meanwhile, in a separate pan, start to fry the garlic over a medium heat in a splash of olive oil, and just before the garlic starts to brown, add the haricot beans, then the cream. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper and as the sauce starts to simmer, add the spinach and allow to wilt. Then serve with the Cauliflower steak.
